ARRANGEMENTS (some of them!)
Here are some brief examples of my writing and playing in different contexts. These are all arrangements that are part of existing projects, solo'd out with some descriptions. All engineered and tracked by me from my home studio.
Larger ensemble sounds -
1
00:00 / 00:46
Cellos, Violins, Violas. Dolce and Portamento.
2
00:00 / 00:22
Cellos, Violins, Violas. Use of pizzicato in the low register and more movement in the upper register.
3
00:00 / 00:22
Cellos, Violins, Violas. Intense staccato foundation with soaring highs strings - followed by an echo of pizzicato and col legno.
Non traditional -
4
00:00 / 00:14
Violins, Violas. Heavy use of portamento, mutes, and close proximity mics.
5
00:00 / 00:21
Violins and electronics. Using the hologram "microcosm" with DI violin in tandem with some non effects string layers.
6
00:00 / 00:34
Violins and Violas. Featuring some very thick harmonic moments and artificial harmonics.
7
00:00 / 00:39
Violins, Violas, electronics. Using various loops from my pedalboard to create a bed of sound. Dry strings with mutes and quick melodic lines. Close proximity mic placement.
Winds and Horns -
8
00:00 / 00:42
String trio (1st violin, 2nd, and viola), Horn trio. Very much leaning into the George Martin sound here - horns are stacked in triads with some nice suspensions and the strings are covering the melodic movement.
9
00:00 / 00:43
Reduced string ensemble (four 1st violins, four seconds, three violas), wind ensemble (Flute, clarinet, bass clarinet), horn trio.
String quartet/trio
10
00:00 / 00:19
String quartet (2 violins, 2 violas)
11
00:00 / 00:40
String trio (2 violins, viola)
12
00:00 / 00:51
String quartet (2 violins, 2 violas)
13
00:00 / 00:51
String trio (2 violins, viola)
